| Jerry Stallard Named Mopar 'Top Eliminator' Winner at Midwest Mopars in the Park Jerry Stallard's 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T SE was chosen as the Mopar "Top Eliminator" winner at the 26th Annual Midwest Mopars in the Park event at the Dakota County Fairgrounds in Farmington, Minn., on Sunday, June 6. The announcement capped the two-day car show, which also featured the first-ever appearance by the Mopar Direct Connection display rig at the event. Stallard, from Columbia Station, Ohio, purchased his Dodge Challenger last year after locating it on the internet and began the restoration, which he completed the weekend prior to the Midwest Mopars in the Park. The project utilized a number of genuine Mopar Performance parts, including a Mopar Battery, Mopar Performance Air Filter Assembly and Mopar Valve Covers. Stallard and his wife, Victoria, currently own eight Chrysler Group vehicles. The Mopar "Top Eliminator" program, now in its' fourth year, recognizes the most skilled Mopar enthusiasts and their restyled or customized vehicles. Six Mopar "Top Eliminator" winners will be selected throughout the year at various events and through online submissions. The winning vehicles will be displayed in the Mopar Alley at the 2010 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. "To win this award and have the car displayed in the Mopar Alley at SEMA, it's a surprise," said Stallard, who searched online for Mopar parts needed for the restoration while enduring a long recovery from knee surgery. "I never dreamed this in a million years. My first car was a 1968 Fury. We recently purchased a 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8®, and we have a few of the new Dodge Chargers and a few Dodge Caravans. It's all Mopar for us." Despite intermittent showers on both Saturday and Sunday, Mopar enthusiasts packed the Dakota County Fairgrounds and crowded the Mopar Direct Connection Rig. Midwest Mopars in the Park attendees checked out the Mopar Direct Connection Test Lab vehicle on display and snapped up Mopar apparel on sale at the DC Rig. Fans also had the opportunity to visit with Mopar racers of yesteryear at the event, including Butch Leal, Herb McCandless, Judy Lilly, Tom Coddington and Dave Rockwell of the Ramchargers, and Roland Leong, owner of the "Hawaiian" Funny Car. "The rain didn't dampen the spirits", said Alan Meehan, club secretary for the Midwest Mopars car club, which organizes the event. "We had almost 700 cars in the show field, and including the car corral and the non-judged cars, we are well over 1,000 cars. This is the first year we've had Mopar out, and we've gotten great feedback. People are very excited to have Mopar out here supporting the show." | ![]() Jerry Stallard poses next to his 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T SE, which was chosen as the Mopar "Top Eliminator" winner at the 26th Annual Midwest Mopars in the Park event in Farmington, Minn., on Sunday, June 6. ![]() A popular stop for Midwest Mopars in the Park attendees was the Mopar Direct Connection Test Lab vehicle, displayed near the Mopar Direct Connection rig, which made its first appearance at the event. ![]() Midwest Mopars in The Park organizers placed the total car count at well above 1,000 for the two-day event. |

| Hübinette Advances to Two-time Formula DRIFT (FD) champion Samuel Hübinette drove his Samuel Hübinette Racing (SHR) Dodge Motorsports/BFGoodrich Dodge Challenger to a Top 16 finish in the FD: Round Three The Gauntlet event at Wall Stadium in Wall, N.J. on Saturday, June 5. Hübinette qualified his Mopar-powered Dodge Challenger No. 13, then drew 2005 FD champion Rhys Millen in the premier matchup of the Top 32 round. The SHR team owner and driver executed two strong drift runs and advanced easily after Millen tapped the wall on one of his two runs. Hübinette matched up with Justin Pawlak in the Top 16. The "Crazy Swede" went at Pawlak hard in two tightly contested tandem drift battles, but ultimately came out on the losing end of the FD judges' decision. Despite his sooner-than-desired exit, Hübinette maintained his No. 8 spot in the FD point standings. "The Dodge Motorsports Dodge Challenger performed great all weekend," said Hübinette. "We're getting better each race; we keep dialing in the new car more and more at each event. I think we're close to getting that first podium of the year." The SHR team owner also watched his driver, Andrew Comrie-Picard, nicknamed "ACP," qualify for his first FD main event. Comrie-Picard posted his SHR Dodge Motorsports/BFGoodrich Dodge Viper SRT10® No. 32 in qualifying before falling to Ryan Tuerck in the opening round. "ACP has improved immensely since the first race of the season at Long Beach back in April," said Hübinette. "We'll be seeing that more throughout the season, for sure." Next up for Hübinette and Picard is the FD Round 4: Throwdown event at Evergreen Speedway in Evergreen, Wash., July 9-10. ![]() Ron Beauchamp scored an eighth-place finish in his No. 60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge in the opening round of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series on Saturday, June 5. | Mopar-Powered Beauchamp Battles Back for Top-10 Ron Beauchamp drove his No. 60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge to an eighth-place finish in the opening round of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series at Delaware Speedway near London, Ontario on Saturday, June 5. The Mopar Parts Dodge was quick during the afternoon practice session and Beauchamp posted the fifth quickest time in qualifying. In the main event, after an early pit stop for adjustments, Beauchamp immediately began improving his position and was soon inside the top-five runners, until contact with the No. 9 car sent him back in the field. Beauchamp again moved toward the front until he was collected in another incident late in the race, forcing him to settle for an eighth-place finish. "It was a solid day early on for our team" said Beauchamp. "The car was a little loose but I knew it would race well, and a top-five starting spot is very good for the first race of the season. The car was performing perfectly, then the racing, well, she got a little rough out there." Ron Beauchamp Jr. and the No. 60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge Team will compete in all thirteen races on the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. Round Two is June 12-13 on the road course at Mosport International Raceway. |
